Judges’ Comments

“This project has been some years in the making, and during its genesis Cambridge University made the welcome decision to no longer use fossil fuels as a heat source. The building exemplifies what happens when the skills and research expertise of the occupants shape the design and construction of a building. It is built so that it can be expanded or adapted, and although its ambition was to minimize carbon in construction, it is also proving to be exceptionally carbon-efficient to run.  We thought it magnificent.”
