Speaker: Professor Richard Gilbertson, CRUK and NBBJ Architects
The Cambridge Biomedical Campus is a World leading centre for Cancer Research and within the context of the Genome therapy it is pioneering.
A Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital would provide clinical service delivery based on a translational research model where medical and research staff co-ordinate in delivering patient care pathways. The new Cancer Research Hospital will be located on a vacant site in the Centre of the Trust’s Estate between the main clinical buildings and the CRUK Research Centre. The vision for the building will be presented by the CRUK Centre Director, Prof Richard Gilbertson.
In order to inform the optimum site Northmores were commissioned to provide a site Option Appraisal to validate the co-location, communication and infrastructure aspects of this new State of the Art facility.
A statement building has been designed to an Outline Stage by Architects, NBBJ to house both the patient and research content of the building based on a significant schedule of content, with complex relationships. NBBJ are an International renowned Architect who are already delivering other significant schemes on the Biomedical Campus.
