The CFCI are delighted to offer you an opportunity to visit St John’s College who are looking to shortly commence the redevelopment of their Mount Pleasant Site to provide a new Passivhaus post graduate village. The scheme looks to demolish three of the four dilapidated villa buildings that current reside on the site and build five new Passivhaus Villa Style buildings which will reuse demolished materials. The retained building known as “The Knott” will be converted and extended to a low energy building standard.
Before the site can commence an extensive archaeological excavation is being undertaken. The first phase is of which is expected to unearth both a Roman Road and an out of settlement Roman Cemetery, both of which have been confirmed via trial trenching previously in the process.
The CFCI invite you to join them to inspect the findings, ably guided by Ricky Pattern of Cambridge Archaeological Unit.
Please ensure you bring Site Boots with you.
The Meeting point is to be the New St John’s College Northampton Street Porters Lodge Building, opposite the Punter Pub.
