Wates Construction has kindly offered members the opportunity to visit CamLIFE at Capital Park, Fulbourn, Cambridge.
CamLIFE is a transformative redevelopment creating a world-class life sciences and innovation campus in Cambridge. Spanning 42 acres, the project repurposes three existing buildings into state-of-the-art CL2 laboratory and office spaces, delivering around 170,000 sq ft of adaptable facilities.
Visitors will see how sustainable construction principles are shaping the future: adaptive re-use of structures, circular economy strategies, and low-carbon design have achieved a 40% reduction in embodied carbon compared to new build. The scheme also integrates advanced MEP systems, BREEAM Excellent standards, and flexible layouts to meet the needs of research-driven enterprises while enhancing biodiversity and wellbeing.
