The city of Cambridge has always been a leader in innovation, from science and technology, to art and architecture. This walking tour steps outside the city centre and explores innovation in architecture beyond the backs, focusing on sites that are sometimes overlooked in favour of the grand central colleges and institutions.
From the University Library and ribbon-like form of Robinson College to the master-planning behind the post-war Sidgwick site, we look at how architects and designers have pushed the boundaries of their time to respond to social context, advance technical design and approach sustainability.
Jon Wright & Sally Humphries from Purcell will take you on a walking tour of Cambridge taking you to places you may never have seen before and explaining the reasons behind the designs. This is an opportunity for those that missed the over-subscribed 2023 tour.
Meet outside the University Library at 4.30pm.
