King’s College Chapel Roof – Site Visit – SOLD OUT

June 7, 2023 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

King's College

We are delighted to offer this site visit to see the works being undertaken on the King’s College chapel roof.

The project involves the renewal of the existing roof coverings on the main Chapel and south side Chapels. The existing lead will be recycled and re-cast before the returned sheets are laid to traditional detailing. The historic timber structures will be sensitively repaired, and the parapet gutters overhauled. In conjunction, the capacity of the wider rainwater disposal system will be reviewed to ensure it is sufficient to accommodate present and future climates.

As part of the College’s integrated decarbonisation plan, photovoltaic arrays will be installed on both slopes of the main roof. These will provide more energy than the Chapel will use itself, with the surplus being fed into the wider College circuits.

You will need to bring full PPE with you.

Unfortunately, due to the age and limitations of this building, we are unable to provide step-free access for this site visit.

Members must note that access to the Chapel roof is via 8no. flights of scaffolding stairs and includes tight manoeuvring in roof passageways.

Members must ensure they are OK with heights before signing up for this site visit.

As tickets are limited can individuals please refrain from booking more than two tickets per company
