Passivhaus is a leading standard for the design and delivery of high comfort, low operational energy buildings. It’s being rapidly adopted both in Cambridge and the UK as a whole, particularly as the climate emergency becomes more prominent.
This talk will cover a brief recap of what Passivhaus is and isn’t, and then touch on some example projects, and lessons learnt, including:
- New build residential, including single dwellings, multi-residential apartments, and student accommodation
- New build non-residential, from schools to offices to archives
- Refurbishment: how Passivhaus applies to refurbishment
- Post-occupancy evaluation
To round off, we’ll discuss the strengths and limitations of Passivhaus and how it sits in the context of the built environment for the climate emergency.
Our speaker is Gwilym Still from Max Fordham
