The CFCI are pleased to offer members the opportunity to visit Project Birchwoood, a new development SDC are undertaking for The Technology Partnership (TTP). Designed by Sheppard Robson architects, the scheme sits on a 23-acre site at the rear of Melbourn Science Park to the south of Cambridge.
The scheme contains three buildings:
The Hive: This 8000m2 single-storey laboratory and office building has been designed as a completely flexible space. This exposed-concrete building contains 23 uniform modules but has an interesting non-uniform structural post-tensioned grid. The space takes in a significant amount of natural light through its 65 rooflights and extensive perimeter glazing.
The Forum: This amenity building provides an extensive offering for TTP employees including catering, rest, presentation and gym facilities.
The Technology Barn: The barn is the northern-most building at the rear of the site and combines laboratory and workshop spaces.
The landscape aims to provide a parkland setting and includes 800 new trees which are set in extensive wildflower meadows.
Social Media / Publicity: As this is a private development, publicity is strictly controlled. Please do not take photographs or share details of this development on social media or other publications.
PPE: Full PPE will be required for the visit including: hard hat, hi-visibility vest, boots, glasses gloves.
Shorts / skirts are not permitted. If you need any PPE this can be provided to you.
We look forward to welcoming visitors on the day.
