CFCI are delighted to offer you the chance to visit the Ray Dolby Centre which will be a new home of the Department of Physics at the University of Cambridge, named in recognition of the sound pioneer and alumnus of the Cavendish Laboratory. Construction is at an advanced stage and the building is due to be completed in the first half of 2024.
The department is one of the most distinguished Physics research institutions in the world and is renowned for fundamental discoveries such as the discovery of the electron and the structure of DNA. Its ground-breaking research is varied and covers the whole range of Physics-related disciplines. With a gross internal area of around 33,000sqm, the Ray Dolby Centre will provide state-of-the-art facilities for research and teaching, housing a range of laboratories, offices, clean rooms, workshops and two lecture theatres. In addition to serving as a home for physics research at Cambridge, the new building will be a top-class facility for the nation through funding support from EPSRC and much of the specialised research equipment in the new building will be made available to other institutions.
Please meet at the site entrance, opposite the University of Cambridge Veterinary School main reception, the nearest parking is Madingley Road Park & Ride.
