Allies and Morrison for Wrenbridge and M&G Real Estate have offered CFCI Members the chance to visit Brooklands, a new workplace campus located on Brooklands Avenue in Cambridge. It is city’s first major operational Net Zero Carbon office scheme, achieving an EPC of A+. It also surpasses the 2025 RIBA Climate Challenge and LETI 2030 space heating and cooling targets. The buildings are designed to high fabric performance standards, the form maximises solar collection on the roofs and integrates air source heat pumps. Siemens Digital Industries are the first major tenants to move in, accounting for approximately 40 per cent of total floor space.
Responding to different scales on this transition site, the design creates buildings that vary in height and form to integrate with the nearby residential and commercial characters. Arranged around a central garden courtyard and unified by a colonnade, a new publicly accessible route has been created through the site. A variety of different workspaces are provided with many benefiting from generous landscaped roof terraces. On-site car parking has been reduced by 90% and over 300 cycle parking spaces are provided. The scheme has achieved BREEAM Excellent, ActiveScore Platinum and Wiredscore Platinum.
Clarendon House, a second development designed by Allies and Morrison for Wrenbridge and M&G Real Estate, sits next door to Brooklands along Clarendon Road and has recently received planning consent.
