Judges citation:
“This is a glorious project, exemplifying the best of the best in the repair and re-use of a precious historic building. The Collyweston-tiled roofs were the focus for this 3-phase project, and the team ran into a wide range of problems from the availability of stone (the quarry was finally reopened in 2016) to the need to find acrobatic solutions to the challenge of getting the materials into the college via a series of elaborate hoists and gantries. The roof was almost completely reconstructed to look, today, as it did in the fifteenth century. We also admired the fine repair and protective re-setting of the stained glass windows overlooking St Andrew’s Street. A worthy winner.”
